Constance (Connie) Cavin

September 21st, 1956 - June 26th, 2010

<span style=""font-family:lucida" sans="" unicode, lucida="" grande,sans-serif;"="">Connie and I were close throughout high school and into later years.
We were friends until her passing 8 years ago. I will always be grateful for her friendship.

Obituary

<span style=""font-family:lucida" sans="" unicode,lucida="" grande,sans-serif;"="">Connie was intelligent, skilled and talented.
She made friends easily and had an easy smile. In high school she was editor of the paper, worked on the yearbook staff, made many signs while on the art staff- to name a few activities she enjoyed.
She made her life with Steve Adams, also a John Adams student. They lived in Lahaina, Maui for several years-he was in construction and she as a painter of condos and apartments. She enjoyed the beach, and when she vacationed, would go on a cruise.

Julia "Jeanie" Stadden (Cole)

December 23rd, 1954 - 1994

My first memory of Jeanie was the summer between 6th and 7th grade when she moved in next door to me. She was cute and nice and loved to be outside. We became best friends over that summer and when 7th grade started at Rigler, she quickly became popular for all the reasons I loved her. So many memories come back to me when I think of her…writing in our diaries, building forts in the field behind our houses, shaving our legs for the first time, traveling with her family in the summer to Vancouver BC in their camper, and beach trips…I remember one year, while at the beach in December, we waded out into the surf up to our shoulders and had a “torture test” to see who could stay in the longest. Here little brothers Jon and Jimmy were never far behind. We were boy crazy for sure and we loved the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Monkees and made up elaborate fantasies about them. She was smart and compassionate and just so much fun. After freshman year we grew apart and after high school we only saw each other a few times. I will always regret not reconnecting with her. She married and had 3 beautiful daughters who were small when she passed away. Today they are lovely young women…she would be so proud. I will always remember her and am thankful that we were young together. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.

Victor LeGall

January 10th, 1961 - October 16th, 2017

Victor was a Beautiful cat! He remembered and valued his friend from 50 years ago all the way up to the new people he’d meet. He did so much to help me - starting back when we were kids. He had a rebellious streak and always reserved his right to make his own mind up on any issue: art, politics, music, bleating, spirituality and history. Vic was intelligent and inventive in his goals. He did much charity work and made the world a better place. A week before he died of cancer he came to say goodbye to me. I was so sad- I asked if there was anything I could do for him. “Yes, just don’t let my death bring you down. Keep on going.” Brave man. A believer in the eternal. Love ya Vic.

Anna Carlson (Rochat)

October 21st, 1957 - September 23rd, 1994

Anna and I met in Biology class at Whitaker. We weren't 'seat partners', but we kept talking back and forth and laughing until Anna asked if the person next to her would mind switching places. It wasn't long before we became "best friends".

Anna had a brilliant smile and a mind to match. We enjoyed writing, laughing (a lot), shopping at Lloyd Center, selling Girl Scout cookies door-to-door, and later working together at the Irvington Theatre together. I have so many memories of Anna and almost all include tons of laughter, but we also had myriad serious talks about religion, politics, relationships and life. She was a deep thinker and I loved that about her.

Anna went to the University of Oregon and I went to OSU after Adams, but we tried to stay in touch and visited each other's campuses. Later, Anna went to PSU and earned a Master's degree and put it to use helping people in Portland as a social worker. I attended her wedding to Ken Carlson on June 23, 1985. Anna looked like an angel and they were very much in love.

Tragically, less than a decade later their lives were taken.

It's hard to put into words what Anna meant to me. I admired her character, loyalty, creative side, and her sense of humor. Ours will always be my most treasured friendship. It is hard to come to terms with the loss of a dear friend, but even harder when their death is the result of senseless violence.

Good friend. He always had a unique way of looking at things. He could take ordinary things and make you think of them in a way you might not see otherwise.
